Update Galaxy ace with Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread DDKQ6 Firmware Via Kies

Did you experience some bugs from your smasung galaxy ace smartphone, after upgrading its firmware to gingerbread 2.3.4 DDKQ5.? Then it's time to fix some of the known bugs including the home screen lag with the new official firmware update of galaxy ace S5830. After this upgrade, the android version remains the same gingerbread 2.3.4 and the following has changed.

  • Baseband version - S5830DDKQ6
  • Kernel version - 2.6.35.7-perf-CL561540root@DELL148#1
  • Build number - GINGERBREAD.DDKQ6

There is no visual changes in the above update, but I felt that the overall touch response is increased a bit. Better battery life one major advantage. But after this update, you might have some connectivity problem like I mentioned in the previous post. Anyway I didn't found anything wrong with update other than this. You can update it via kies. Follow the procedures below:
  • Start Kies and connect your phone via USB cable, allow few seconds to connect. make sure that your Kies is latest (Kies_2.1.0.11095_) otherwise update kies when prompted.

  • Kies automatically detect the new firmware (PDA:KQ6/PHONE:KQ6/CSC:KQ5(INU)) and prompt you to update. Click update.
  • In the upcoming window, check "I have read all the above information" and click start upgrade by choosing "Proceed without saving"

  • That's all you've to do and it'll take around 1-2 hours which depends on your internet speed.

  • Do not disconnect the device from computer before the upgrade get completed.

  • If the upgrade get stopped by showing an error saying "operation has timed out", it may due to overload in kies servers or the low speed of your internet connection.Try again until you got updated. That's the only solution.

  • After completing the upgrade, restart the device.

Note: Backup your data before proceeding to upgrade firmware.

While doing it this way is a good way because you do not want to void any warranties. I found that doing it with Odin is better and easier. Also it won't void your warranty.
