Firefox 9 Features, Pros & Cons

The new version of Mozilla Firefox 9, is upon us. It's time to scribble down the features of the newest version of Firefox and some of its pros and cons. It's a fact that the Mozilla started emulating Google chrome at the design part as they tend to minimize the interface like other competitors Internet Explorer 9 and Opera 11.5. Some benchmarks shows the Firefox 9 competing and matching chrome with speed of execution of java script but some other tests indicates some trails.


Version history - upcoming :Firefox 11 Aurora, Firefox 12 Nightly.

Features
  • Better integration with Mac OS X Lion supports two-finger gestures. 
  • Minimized design 
  • Panorama and Pinned Tabs - A new way to organize tabs to avoid tab cluttering. 
  • Type Inference - boosts JavaScript performance by up to 30% 
  • Better support for ont-stretch & text-overflow. 
  • Supports improved for HTML5, MathML, and CSS. 
  • Large bug fixes. 
  • Newly added security features. 
  • Overall improved speed. 


Pros:
  • Improved java script performance 
  • Tab and bookmark organization with panorama is revolutionary. 
  • Sync - tabs, history and bookmarks. 
  • Graphics hardware acceleration. 
  • Better theme integration support for MAC OS X Lion 
  • Pinned sites feature 


Cons:
  • Still behind Google chrome and Internet explorer 9 in some benchmark tests. 
  • It doesn't have a built in pdf reader, document handler or flash like Chrome. You still have to install addons. 
  • Not upto mark in security like IE9 client-side tracking protection.
