Play Vista Chess Titans In XP

The Windows version vista includes an amazing chess game called chess Titans and is and included in Windows Vista and Windows 7 Home Premium, Business/Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions. The Vista chess game is fully 3D animated and theme choices are available for the chess pieces and board.

However the chess game is not officially given to XP versions of windows, there is a ported version of Chess Titans available to download. According to the developer chess game can be played on windows XP without much 3D effects as expected in vista. Although the game executable is completely portable as you can always directly run it by just double clicking chess.exe anywhere on your hard disk.

System Requirements
  • Microsoft Windows XP or higher
  • . Net Framework 3.5 SP1 (needed for XP and Vista only) If you have a lower version download here.
  • DirectX 9 Capable Graphic Card or higher
The chess titans experience can be increased by installing latest updated DirectX runtimes from MS.

Expected Errors:

The application is failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

You may get this error while executing chess.exe . This is because you don't have the latest .net framework from microsoft. Update .net framework and try again.
Note:

The Chess Titans game ported to XP is not yet tested by me. I just shares the information.

I tried running this on Windows 2000 SP4 which doesn't support Net Framework 3.5 at all and guess what, it worked!!! The only prerequisite for Windows 2000 seems to be that you have DX9c installed. I just ignored the message about framework 3.5 and installed the game anyway and it appears to run fine.
