Rarely this message box may hang and the media file may not be played. If Building font cache dialog box stuck and showing this message each time whenever you play a file in VLC, you can do the following to prevent this.
- Type %appdata% in the run command box
- Find the folder named VLC from C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data
- Delete the folder VLC
This will make VLC to freshly rebuilds font cache. from now onwards you will be able to play files without font cache rebuilding message.

Thanks for this quickfix on the VLC player. I often use it to play my DVD's on my computer, which is hooked to my home theatre brisbane system.
