Top New Features of iOS 6

Apple announced iOS 6 at World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 2012 so the products like iPhone, iPad and iPod will get the new operating system this fall. Well, everyone looks into new software releases  for new features and less bugs, the new iOS 6 brings you a bunch of unique features that would help Apple to step over against Android in the mobile phone as well as tablet market.

Here's some of the highlights of iOS 6 that you can look forward in the new update.

Siri
One of the coolest thisng about iOS 6 is the Siri virtual assistant support for iPAD. iOS 6 supports full integration of Siri which is some thing that we needed as originally Siri had only the dictation, now they did have the full Siri support. The full Siri support for iPad means some enhancement to this virtual  assistant interprets voice commands and respond to user by voice.

Also, Siri is getting some new sources of information included like Yelp for restaurant information, OpenTable for restaurant reservation by voice commands, Rotten Tomatoes for movie ratings, Fandango for buying move tickets and IMDB for film reviews.

Another thing is that the language support for Siri is updated to a few more languages.

  • French Canadian
  • Korean
  • Mandarin and Cantonese
  • French, German and Italian
  • Spanish
Facebook
Another interesting feature iOS 6 gonna have is the Facebook integration. Facebook integration is definitely really cool, once you made the settings you can add different accounts whether its your personal account or business account. You're allowed to post not only text also images. Another fine part is that you can tweet and Facebook posts right from the notifications.

Call reply
Another stand-out feature that they've added to the phone features is one which allows you to reply the calls with a message. There's gonna be two more buttons rather than "Answer"& "Decline",  they are "Reply with Message" and "Remind me later". When someone is calling you, instead of answering, you can hit "Reply with  Message " that you can choose from a pre-written message or custom one that you can type and sent it to the caller (This is similar concept of Templates in old Nokia mobile phones).

The button "Remind me Later"will log the call to deal later in missed calls.

Do Not Disturb
The next cool feature they've added is the Do Not disturb feature for notification which is definitely a really great feature that needed to have in here for very long time. Once you turned on the DND feature, people wont be disturbing you with notifications, applications etc.

FaceTime over Cellular
Another great thing in the iOS 6 is the FaceTime  over  3G, which means that you can make  and receive FaceTime calls via 3G or AT&T $G.

VIP in E-mail
You'll be able to add VIP's to your E-mail list. That way when you add VIP's you get notifications that pops up, when you check your inboxes you have a special inbox for the VIPs that you've added.. By that way, if somebody who is important to your business or if its your girlfriend or wife or something like that, you'll be able to find those mails faster than checking through your regular emails.

Another feature is that you can insert pictures or video while typing the emails which helps you to save time otherwise you going through your albums and sending it or doing a copy and paste.

Also another interesting feature is that if you're sending a document, you can actually make it password protected.

New Passbook Application
The whole new Passbook feature will be a place to store your gift cards, tickets from different places such as Starbucks, AMTRAK, Apple Store etc. hopefully they've added tons of different vendors the will be able to connect with this service.

New Maps
Another cool feature is the 3D maps and its gonna be very interesting because the're gonna be getting rid of current Google maps since the new iOS maps includes navigation also. This means that you don't have to see a 3rd party application for navigation support for the device itself.
  • Voice navigation feature - assisted by Siri
  • Turn-by-Turn navigation
  • 3D satellite and 3D vector views(Now, its gonna be available on major cities only but expecting world wide over time)
