Turn your android phone into a Seismograph

There's an android application called seismo make use of your android phone's accelerometer sensor. This cool app senses almost all little shake or motion of the phone and can work as a seismograph or Richter scale to measure earthquakes. The app can also be used to test the sensitivity of your phone's accelerometer. While running this app it records even very minute shake of the phone and produce a chart. It can monitor vibrations in 3 axis of movement.

I got a chart using this app on my Samsung galaxy ace and the sensor was very sensitive. This app can be handy where you have to determine if an object is shaking or wobbling. You can use the unfilter/filter option to choose whether or not to remove constant forces like Earth's gravity from the measurement log. Also this app can export the reports in CSV format.

I found this app very useful to engineers and researchers for their projects as a motion detector and logger. This free app can be downloaded from android market.
