The official android 2.3.4 gingerbread is out for Samsung galaxy ace. This firmware upgrade includes OTA feature (update over the air) so that if a new update is released for this phone you can upgrade within the phone by itself. The overall user interface has been improved in this update. If you've a galaxy ace, update via KIES software which is very easy to do.
Follow these steps to upgrade Samsung galaxy ace to android 2.3.4 using KIES
1. Download and Install KIES software. If you've already installed KIES, make sure that you've a recent version of KIES
2. Make sure that you installed phone usb drivers. Download drivers
3. Open Kies, connect your phone. After you got connected, click on the name of the device GT - S5830 then click basic tab. Click upgrade firmware
4. A dialog box will pop out to confirm the update. Click update.
6. Read all instructions the click proceed.
7. Make a backup of your contacts when prompted .Done! It'll take about an hour to complete the upgrade but depends on your pc and internet speed.

After downloading firmware upgrading components a window pop up says preparing for update and it hangs for more than 1 hour but update was not successful......

I just updated my ace with these instruction and files (kies and usb drivers) downloaded from these here links. 2.3.3 version is instaled, not 2.3.4 but it works just fine, and i have option to update from fone.

First instal kies, and then USB driver.
When instaling USB driver select us english and select US as country.
restart PC, turn kies on , and connect fone (refeil batery on fon first)
allmost forgot ... disable antivirus and firewall
i got 2.3.4 updated but my battery life too low

hii...while upgrading it is getting stucked by showing that preparing firmware components...i tried again by disabling firewall and antivirus...still the same result...can anyone help me...???????

My Ace is 2.3.3, but it won't show that 2.3.4 is available through the phone or Kies. It just says that the phone is updated to the latest version. Why is this?
Notice one more thing... before start instaliing check ur C drive space... Minimum 3000 MB free space required to upgrade firmware. otherwise u will get a popup "Insufficent disk space"
